India back to old ways!!

The second test match between India and South Africa ended on the third day much to the relief of cricket lovers!! Yes, I mean it. I don't want this agony to continue on to the fourth day as well.

What a show by Indians after their tour Down Under? The Indian batting totally lacked commitment in the first innings. Nobody bothered to stay put in the wicket which is not that difficult a one. Once you were bowled out for 76, you cant expect any other result than a loss.

Okay, I can forgive the Indian team for this dismal performance once in a while but can't stomach their pre-match comments. Particularly by Harbhajan Singh and Virender Sehwag. Both were going over-board on TV channels saying that India should seal the series in Ahmedabad. They have got a fitting reply from South Africa, so atleast, from now on, our players concentrate on cricket and leave the talking to the Captain.

Our bowling department needs a complete overhaul. The speedsters RP Singh and Sreesanth were not effective in these docile pitches and the spinners failed to deliver. Though Harbhajan has got wickets (I guess it is more due to the number of overs he bowls rather than the quality of bowling!!) he is not in any kind of match-winning form. Why cant we make Sehwag bowl more his off-spinners?

If given a chance, I would drop Harbhajan for the third test and bring in Piyush Chawla or Murali Kartik. Dhoni needs rest after a hectic Australian tour and he would make way for Dinesh Karthik. VVS Laxman should make way for either Sachin Tendulkar, if he is fit or for Mohd. Kaif.

Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly to be made clear that they are in the final lap of their test careers. They can decide to retire after this series and bow out in style. But I dont think these guys would do it this way. Sourav Ganguly still nurses ambition of playing in the Indian ODI team.
